Had a marvelous time at the SCBWI Michigan conference. Met kbarson from Verla's. I felt "so" at home with the whole experience. Being surrounded by authors, editors, illustrators, and agents was absolutely fantastic. Felt like heaven. A high point for me was having 2 books signed by James E. Ransome, Illustrator of HOW MANY STARS IN THE SKY and UNCLE TED'S BARBER SHOP.
I once wrote a poem for my son, Aaron, about him being a 'star' in my eyes, and James signed HOW MANY STARS IN THE SKY for Aaron with "To a real star", of course, he didn't know how meaningful that was to me, but it made my day!
